Without question, Shadow Warrior 2 is shaping up to be one of the year’s best surprises; combining its predecessor’s over-the-top gunplay with a beautiful new graphics engine and a procedural content creation system intended to make the game infinitely replayable. And now we finally have a pretty good idea of when Shadow Warrior 2 is headed to PC and consoles.
Last week, Devolver Digital began teasing fans with about as noncommittal a timeline as a company could offer without defaulting to a particular year or just saying “when it’s ready.” The publisher promised to release Shadow Warrior 2 “in less than two months,” confirming we’d see the game by mid-October (at the latest), but stopped short of providing a specific launch date. But it seems the company, or at least some of its representatives, were a bit chattier at QuakeCon.
According to a new report from GameReactor, who spoke with the publisher during the annual LAN/convention in Dallas, Shadow Warrior 2 will debut sometime in September. The PC version will be out first -- again, no word on an exact date -- with the console versions following close behind. It’s not clear how long of a gap we can expect between the two launches; however, it sounds like all Shadow Warrior 2 will be out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One by the end of September.
