E3 is fast approaching, and every video game fan knows the event is a huge thing. Upcoming titles will be revealed for the first time, while others will finally showcase gameplay, graphics and release dates. But if there is one thing gamers did not really expect, it is the confirmed appearance of The Simpsons. Yes, that is right – Homer and the rest of the gang will appear at the premier trade event. The news was confirmed by the show’s writers and producers via Twitter.
Apparently, the cartoon family will be part of a panel during the E3 Coliseum slated for June 11. It will be really interesting to see what the gang is up to, as we don't know what they will be demonstrating or talking about. Your guess is just as good as mine.
Could it be the remaster of Virtual Springfield or perhaps the long-awaited sequel to Hit & Run? Could the world’s most popular family announce Bonestorm or Road Rage 2? No one really knows.
It is possible that the people behind the animated show could mastermind a game announcement. Or, more likely, they are just there to have the chance to become part of the overall E3 experience. Netflix, on the other hand, is also part of the panel and is believed to be announcing video game adaptations of its shows.
There is also the possibility of unveiling a new The Simpsons game, as the most recent release was back in 2007. Electronic Arts which owns the license and eventually released a mobile game called The Simpsons: Tapped Out in 2012. For a period of time, it became one of the studio’s cash cows.
After Disney acquired a majority of Fox’s entertainment assets, the franchise became part of the Mouse House. All of the show’s 30 seasons are expected to be available for streaming on Disney+, which is confirmed to arrive in the United States sometime in November.
