The day every hungry Simmer has been waiting for is finally here! The new Sims 4 restaurant game pack, dubbed Dine Out, will bring more than a few new features to the game. Without further ado, watch the trailer below:
Take your Sims out for a fancy dinner to a pre-made restaurant lot, or, build and customize your own from the ground up. It can be a “hole in the wall” or high-class establishment with wall-sized aquariums and white tablecloths. You can also assign one of your Sims to own and run the restaurant themselves. Scratch that, not just one: build your own franchise by owning multiple restaurants at once. Hire employees and create and style the menu. With new host, waiter, and chef stations, you’ll be in full control of your employees as the manager. It’s been confirmed in the forums that you can't actually take on the role of chef yourself.
Even though your Sims won’t be able to chef it up, here’s the list of all known features so far:
- Waiters aren’t perfect. Some are clumsy and may drop food on the way to your table.
- Eat dinner in outdoor dining areas.
- Sims order their own drinks and manually pay for their meal.
- Children can color at the table before they eat.
- Sims can take pictures of their food to save to their inventory and decorate with.
- If you're eating dinner with a group, make a toast with everyone like in The Sims 2.
- Romantically feed another Sim (and hopefully propose to them too)
- Warm your hands near a heat lamp if it's cold outside.
- Is the food terrible? Your Sims’ reaction will tell all.
- Drink still, or even sparkling water.
- A host will greet you at the door and bring you to your table.
- Watch the cooks make your food.
- Celebrate birthdays at the table.
- Enjoy the view of an all-glass aquariums in the dining room.
- Drink nectar (wine) in a special new glasses.
- Choose your own wait staff uniforms.
- Make sure your restaurant is up to snuff because you may run into a food critic.
- You don’t need Get To Work to own a restaurant.
We're still waiting to see all the new build/buy objects, clothing, accessories, and hairstyles. There's a couple new hairstyles for men, women, and children placed throughout the trailer. We also spotted an outdoor heat lamp, chandeliers, various decorations, windows, and new wallpaper so far:
Here's all the restaurant venues previewed in the trailer:
All the different types of restaurants, ‘experimental’ foods, and careers are still unclear. It looks like there’s a variety of new desserts, sushi, soup (possibly pho?), a cheese plate, octopus or calamari.
The very last sentence of EA’s official press release states, “We will dive deep into how the sausage is made in the very near future.” So expect more details are right around the corner. Can Sims skip out on the bill, and will they have to do dishes if they get caught? Can Sims make a reservation? Is there a Simstagram for Sims to share food pics? Are there fast-casual restaurants as well as traditional sit-down? Watch the trailer in slow-motion with 70 screenshots highlighting the most exciting moments courtesy of The Sims Community blog .
