The Sims 4 is due for another game pack, and chances are EA will bless Sims fans with a new DLC come March. The speculation began when Sims blogger, The SimScraper , tweeted to Maxis Producer Dave Miotke @SimGuruNinja . “Really need another GP, I hope we see it announced soon. Please!” the tweet read. Miotke responded, hinting the focus of the next game pack. “Hang in there! I know you're hungry for news & I can't wait to serve up some fresh info soon!” the producer said suggestively.
Sims fans, who have been patiently waiting for more significant gameplay options to roll out since The Sims 4 ’s initial release, seem fairly confident the next game pack will be restaurant-related. If the game pack adds date-night gameplay with dining interactions similar to TS2, it will be a must-buy.
In January, multiple Sims Guru’s confirmed Miotke ( @SimGuruNinja ) is in charge of game packs, so the fact that he voluntarily answered a question specifically about GPs is a good sign.
Sims Community Staff Member Tatiana is confident that the GP rumor is true. She said in a Sims 4 forum , “ Nah, that's an actual guru tweeting that and the one in charge of GPs. So....it's a pretty solid hint. Those words were chosen carefully, I'm sure of it. He could have said anything else but he chose to use words that were flashing neon signs. The hint is that obvious.”
Last year, multiple blogs reported EA sent out an invite-only Sims Expansion Pack Survey with 7 potential ideas. One of the proposals, called Town Life , includes pop-up restaurants and town markets where Sims can buy fresh food. “Create a vibrant and evolving new town for your Sims to explore! Build out your town with new venues including pop-up restaurants, coffee shops, farmers’ markets, amongst others,” the survey reportedly said. As far as gameplay, the survey said the expansion pack would include community events. “Participate in new events happening all over town! Buy fresh groceries from the farmers’ market or have a fancy dinner at an exclusive pop-up restaurant.” The document specifically states ‘restaurants’ under the new venue category.
Even with the Get Together and Get To Work expansion packs, Sims can only go on dates to bars, clubs, and cafes which don’t have many interactive dining options. The addition of restaurants would give Sims the ability to go to dinner, order from a menu, and pay for their bill; not to mention the quirky social interactions like marriage proposals, skipping out on the check, and cuddling in a corner booth. Paired with Get To Work , it would be cool to see a Sim be able to open a restaurant of their own. A restaurant-themed GP would be The Sims 4’ s third game pack. There have been 6 Stuff Packs released so far, the latest Romantic Garden , released Feb. 9.
Many Simmers are predicting a March release for the next game pack. If EA decides to follow the same schedule as last year, a game pack would be due next month. The usual pattern is two stuff packs, followed by a game pack or expansion pack. Seeing the last DLC featuring gameplay was an expansion pack, Get Together in December, it’s more likely The Sims team is working on a new game pack which historically releases just a month after the last stuff pack.
