Since it was first released in 2000, The Sims was always about celebrating new ways to play and offering players many possibilities to discover. More players now have the chance to experience that with The Sims 4 base game becoming free to download beginning October 18.
It will be available on PC through the EA App or Origin and on Mac through Origin or Steam. The game is free to download as well on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
In a post, The Sims team shared that with the game becoming free to play, they'll be even more dedicated to coming up with new and meaningful experiences for players. The team said further that they’ll continue to develop and release packs, kits, and even Sims Delivery Express drops in the foreseeable future.
More of these plans will be revealed through a special-edition stream titled “Behind The Sims Summit” on October 18 at 1:00 p.m. EDT through the official YouTube and Twitch channels of The Sims. The event is even set to be available on demand.
Upgraded Experience
While The Sims 4 may be free to download, there’s still something extra for EA Play and EA Play Pro members. They’ll be getting an upgraded experience once the member-only bundles of the game become available in The Play List starting October 18.
The Sims 4 EA Play Edition comes with The Sims 4 Get To Work expansion pack. Meanwhile, the EA Play Pro Edition includes not just The Sims 4 Get To Work but also The Sims 4 Toddler stuff pack.
