Are pets coming to TS4? The Sims 3

There has been no new Sims expansion pack or game pack announcements since EA released Get Together in December. Now, we have a small beacon of hope that something of substance is at least in the works. The Sims team appears to have a new DLC up their sleeve that will keep a few Sims 4 players happy this year: Pets!

The Sims Community was the first to spot a report from SimTimes.de that reveals EA recently sent out an official The Sims 4: Pets expansion pack survey. Like The Sims 3: Pets expansion pack, EA is proposing a new pet-focused town. Adopt or create your own pet in CAS mode. Choose between a horse, dog, or cat and give your new pet their own personal traits. Train and interact with your pet to build a relationship with them, just like you would another Sim.

If EA decides to follow through with The Sims 4: Pets there will be two main differences from TS3 Pets. Get To Work allows your pets to head off to work themselves (I’d assume The Sims team will also have a vet career, but that wasn’t in the survey). You’ll also be able to play as your pet. Explore the world as your dog, cat or horse.

Simmers were banking on a new game pack release in March, but The Sims team released a regular game update with a special ‘Spring Challenge’ instead. We’re still hoping for the next expansion/game pack release to bring loads of new gameplay to TS4 (preferably toddlers, though that's unlikely). Past rumors suggested the next DLC would be restaurant-related, but speculation fell through when SimGuruDrake announced there would be no game pack release in March.

The last Sims 4 survey sent out in August 2015 suggested 10 potential expansion packs: On The Road, University, Generations, Get Real, Find Love, Metropolis, Power Up, Back To School, Vacation, and Rebuild. Read about each here, courtesy of The Sims Community blog.

Seeing EA just put out the survey for feedback, The Sims 4: Pets is most likely still in development. Don’t expect a Sims Pets expansion announcement for awhile.
