The latest content announcement confirms a restaurant game pack and a kids-themed stuff pack. The Sims 4

Months of speculation comes to an end as SimGuruLindsay has officially confirmed the next Sims 4 DLC will be a restaurant game pack set to release this spring. In addition, a kids-themed stuff pack will release shortly thereafter.

In the short 15-second trailer, you’ll see The Sims dining symbol float across the screen and a restaurant waiter taking dinner orders. The next tease isn’t so upfront. There’s a bunch of kids in a room playing with toys and a green icon with two children’s heads. No toddlers were pictured, but since the kids DLC is a Stuff Pack it probably won’t feature much new gameplay.

While the restaurant-themed game pack is worth getting excited about, it’s not the big announcement Simmers were expecting after a months-long news drought. SimGuruLindsay explained in the forums that we’ll be getting more ‘seasonal previews’ in the future, but that won’t replace individual content announcements going forward.

“I am really excited to share with you a new type of video today! This seasonal preview is something we will be presenting every few months to show you a look at the content to come in the next season for The Sims 4. (In this case a “season” means around 2-3 months)

This will NOT replace our usual announcement videos and blogs but will give you a preview of the type of content and themes you can expect to see coming up.

We’re really excited to share this with you, we’ve not done anything quite like this before, and look forward to giving you even more information and deeper dives on the content as we get closer to their announcement & release dates.”

A restaurant-focused game pack has been rumored since February when SimGuruNinja suggestiveley posted a few cryptic statements to Twitter. Sims Latin America also teased a dining DLC last week. There’s no official word on what kind of new gameplay the new pack will bring, but a Sims Expansion Pack Survey from last year gives us a few ideas about what could come.

One of the proposals, called Town Life, includes pop-up restaurants and town markets where Sims can buy fresh food. “Create a vibrant and evolving new town for your Sims to explore! Build out your town with new venues including pop-up restaurants, coffee shops, farmers’ markets, amongst others,” the survey reportedly said. As far as gameplay, the survey said the expansion pack would include community events. “Participate in new events happening all over town! Buy fresh groceries from the farmers’ market or have a fancy dinner at an exclusive pop-up restaurant.” The document specifically states ‘restaurants’ under the new venue category.

Even with the Get Together and Get To Work expansion packs, Sims can only go on dates to bars, clubs, and cafes which don’t have many interactive dining options. The addition of restaurants would give Sims the ability to go to dinner, order from a menu, and pay for their bill; not to mention the quirky social interactions like marriage proposals, skipping out on the check, and cuddling in a corner booth. Paired with Get To Work , it would be cool to see a Sim be able to open a restaurant of their own. A restaurant-themed GP would be The Sims 4 s third game pack. There have been 6 Stuff Packs released so far, the latest Romantic Garden, released Feb. 9.

In the meantime, don’t forget about The Sims 4 update coming April 21. The Spring Challenge will come to a close on Thursday, so harvest your growfruit and collect all those easter eggs!
