The Sims 4: Vampires release date is Jan. 24, EA announced Tuesday afternoon. The mystical and paranormal world has always been a part of The Sims one way or another -- from Makin’ Magic to The Sims 2: Nightlife and University, but this game pack will be different than the rest. Instead of exploring the more general supernatural world with werewolves, zombies, witches, fairies and wizards like in The Sims 3: Supernatural, TS4’s take on the classic feature, as the title suggests, exclusively takes the vampire life state to another level. Check out the trailer above.
“They have their own special Vampire motives and needs, focused around gaining enough Plasma, Powers and sleep. Plasma is what Vampires drink, and it comes in a few different varieties,” The Sims team revealed in a press release.

There's a lot of features here we've seen in previous supernatural-themed packs. Vampire Sims can purchase Plasma packs for a quick fix, but it’s probably going to be more economical to grow Plasma fruit. There’s also another way to get plasma: drain some from innocent Sims as they sleep.
Of course, vampires have special powers and special weaknesses, one of which is being exposed to daylight, which can prove to be quite a fire hazard. They also have different forms: regular and dark. However, all vampire actions will automatically be performed in Dark Form. Sims can be born with vampire genetics, but they won’t receive powers until their teen years and you won’t know if they’re a vampire until they reach the appropriate age.
There are many ways to make your Vampire more Vampire-y. Create-A-Sim includes the creepy walk style (likely the same animation that leaked last month). Other new options include glowing eyes, creepy eye sockets, washed-out skin tones for those who never see the light of day, and dramatic eyebrows to make your vampire look extra evil. You’ll be able to customize both Light and Dark Forms.
Forgotten Hollow is the new world. It is one block with five lots, and the town center is dedicated to Vlad, the founding vampire. There’s a bunch of unique features to make this neighborhood extra creepy -- longer night-time hours, fog, foliage and withered architecture with a “rich history and secrets.” A new lot trait attracts vampires to to your lot. While vampires will show up in other worlds, they stay in Forgotten Hollow for the most part.
The trailer shows a vampire turning into a bat, so there could be some more features involing supernatural powers which haven't been announced yet. New objects include the pipe organ, which has it’s own skill. There’s new coffin beds for vampire woohooing and all sorts of new gothic decor. Stay tuned for more about the new vampire life state, the new aspiration and more features in the pack in the coming weeks.
