Sims-inspired life sim inZOI, created by Krafton, will reportedly feature mod support at launch and a limited-time character creator demo will be available on Aug. 21, 2024.
The announcement of the support was made by Krafton in partnership with the Overwolf-owned mod repository CurseForge. The limited-time character creator, known as inZOI: Character Studio, will be available for players on PC via Steam.
inZOI Will Have Mod Support at Launch
In a press release, inZOI producer and director Hyungjun Ki said that the game is committed to "encouraging easier mod creation and artistic expression from players."
He noted that by partnering with CurseForge, they can provide players with a dedicated platform for inZOI mods.
This would ensure that the community has the best tools and resources at its disposal to bring their creative visions to life. Kim argued that the collaboration reflects their dedication to "fostering a vibrant modding community within inZOI," according to Gematsu.
On the other hand, the CEO of Overwolf, Uri Marchand, said that user-generated content (UGC) is both the present and future of gaming.
He said that it is driven by a community of passionate creators and players who simply want to shape their experiences and make their gameplay their own.
Marchand added that inZOI is the perfect environment for UGC to thrive, noting that they are thrilled to be collaborating with Krafton. Together, they will provide safe, curated modding experiences into highly anticipated inZOI immediately after the game launches.
Building a Gaming Community
The imminent arrival of inZOI comes as this year, fans of the Life Sim genre have been clamoring for an alternative or competitor to The Sims franchise. This was exacerbated following the unfortunate shutdown of Life by You by Paradox Interactive, said PCGamer.
It seems that South Korean publisher Krafton is hoping that it would be able to cultivate a community for inZOI similar to that of The Sims. This is also an easy way to broaden the game's catalog of content.
Furthermore, partnering with someone well-versed in hosting mods seems like the easiest way to actually encourage people to share their work with others.
The limited-time character creator demo is also said to feature more than 250 customization options for you to play around with.
CurseForge is a division of Overwolf and is a leading mod repository for video games across the industry.
That platform enables players, including mod authors, to discover, share, and safely and seamlessly enhance their gaming experience with various mods and add-ons, according to DSOGaming.
