82-year old Shirley Curry, known online as ‘Skyrim Grandma’, is set to be immortalized in the upcoming installment to the Elder Scrolls franchise. There, she will show up in some capacity as an NPC, hopefully as a travelling companion similar to those in previous Elder Scrolls games.
The announcement regarding Skyrim Grandma being immortalized came when Bethesda released a video in celebration of The Elder Scrolls franchise. This 2019, Elder Scrolls will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary, and in the video, fans and developers came together to reminisce about the franchise and talk about its future. ‘Skyrim Grandma,’ who went viral on YouTube for streaming herself playing Skyrim, was also a part of the video, and is confirmed to be present in the upcoming Elder Scrolls game.
In the video, Curry says “This means a lot to me, because I would be extremely happy to know that somebody else was playing with my character in a future Elder Scrolls game.” The announcement itself made gaming fans around the world incredibly happy about the affair, especially those who supported the Change.org petition issues by fans to Bethesda asking them to do precisely that.
Shirley Curry has seen some overwhelming support from the gaming community thanks to her wholesome videos and genuine enjoyment of video games, but the message she portrays goes far beyond just Skyrim. 'Skyrim Grandma' was recently featured in a documentary on YouTube, telling her story about how she fell in love with gaming.
