UPDATE: United Front Games has sent out a press release announcing Smash + Grab, a 3v3 online multiplayer game coming to PC. The game is described as follows:

"Each team will need to grapple, shoot, and smash their way to victory by collecting $50k in goods from locked-down, high-end shopping districts – or from the opposing team! In rapid-fire, 15-minute matches, players raid increasingly larger stores, mod lethal new weapons like chain-saw-shovels and poison-crossbows, and afterward, level up with new perks and clothing."

“Smash + Grab combines our love of competitive online games with our expertise in action mechanics and hand-to-hand combat, sharpened during our development of Sleeping Dogs," said Stephen Van Der Mescht, CEO of United Front Games. "The playtesting rivalries got pretty intense in the studio during development, and we hope to see the same reaction on a bigger scale with Smash + Grab’s Early Access launch.”

Original story follows...

Sleeping Dogs developer United Front Games has teased some “exciting game news” on Twitter. Based on leaks, it doesn’t look like it will be Sleeping Dogs 2 though.

The tweet mentions the news will be coming very soon. When one fan asked how soon that was, United Front responded with “*very* soon!”

While we may all want to see a Sleeping Dogs 2 announcement, it seems likely United Front will reveal the game Smash and Grab instead. This information comes from industry insider Wario64, who has posted both trademark information on the game as well as leaked artwork.

Based solely on the leaked images above, Smash and Grab looks like a competitive team-based multiplayer game. One image shows three teams, a biker gang looking group, a street gang group and an organized crime group. In a somewhat interesting twist, there are more melee weapons in the image than guns. Perhaps Smash and Grab will not be a shooter in the traditional sense, and more of a brawling game.

So when will Smash and Grab formally get announced? Very soon, according to the developers. Don’t be surprised to see some kind of a reveal later this week or at the PlayStation event coming Sept. 7.
