CI Games has decided to push back the PC and consoles debuts of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, the studio announced this week, citing feedback from the game’s recent beta. Given the relatively short length of the delay, three weeks, it’s clear that CI Games believes it’s still on the right track. But the studio isn’t certain Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is ready to compete with Ghost Recon Wildlands, Horizon Zero Dawn, NieR: Automata or the rest of 2017’s already stellar line-up.
This isn’t the first time CI Games has been forced to delay its latest endeavor. Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was originally slated for launch back in January, before getting pushed to April 4, and now the studio says fans shouldn’t expect the next game in the series until April 25. It isn’t a ton of additional time, but will presumably give the studio a chance to tie up loose ends and spend a little extra time polishing the Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 experience. CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski knows the situation isn’t ideal but says this is the best way to ensure fans aren’t disappointed when SGW3 heads to PC and consoles this spring.
"We’ve worked tirelessly creating a whole new Sniper Ghost Warrior experience set in an ambitiously crafted open world new to the series," said Tyminski. "While it’s an unfortunate decision to delay the game one last time, we believe these final changes will result in a better experience for players worldwide on day one.”
