Sombra has finally been revealed for Overwatch, and you can see her in action in the latest animated short, "Infiltration." In case you're wondering what the stealthy hacker can actually do, Blizzard has let that cat out of the bag as well.
Sombra is an offensive character with a fully-automatic machine pistol as her primary weapon. The pistol fires in a short-range spread. Sombra can also hack her opponents to force them to temporarily fight without the abiity to activate powers. Alternatively, the hack ability can be used to make first aid kits useless to opponents.
UPDATE: We Got Our Hands On Sombra at BlizzCon! Here's What We Thought
As seen in the trailer, Sombra has a Thermoptic camo ability that makes her invisible. While invisible, Sombra's move speed is increased, but she cannot perform any attacks. Attacking, using abilities or taking damage will all force the camo to be turned off.
To go along with the stealthy movement, Sombra also has a Translocator. This device will allow Sombra to teleport back to whereever it was placed while the device is active. This even works while the device is in mid-air, so expect to see some crazy Sombra teleportation videos on YouTube soon enough.
Lastly, Sombra has an EMP. This attack sends out a massive electrical pulse that destorys all enemy barriers and shields. The pulse also hacks any enemy caught inside the blast radius.
While still unconfirmed, the trailer also showed Sombra having similar movement/climbing abilities to Hanzo. Sombra really looks like an unpredictable enemy, and the ability to get just about anywhere on the map will only add to that.
As for when you'll actually be able to try out these new abilities, Sombra will be included in a public beta next week. Keep reading iDigitalTimes for more information as it comes out of BlizzCon.
