Sony Santa Monica, the award-winning game studio behind 2018's Game of the Year: God of War, is hiring for a new project. Along with this news, they revealed that the opening was for an unannounced title, which fans are definitely interested in.
The studio pointed out in the job ad that they're looking for someone who "guides and inspires the team to deliver the best visual quality." There's not a lot to go on with the listing but we do know that they're looking into a new artistic direction, which lends credibility to the idea that they're following up with a new IP. Sony Santa Monica is looking for a person with at least 10 years of experience as an art lead or art director for a AAA game.
The new project could be a new IP for PlayStation, especially since there was talk of a new sci-fi franchise in the works long before the development cycle of God of War. There is also speculation that Santa Monica Studio plans on launching two games following the release of God of War, yet so far, neither title has made an appearance. This comes as a big surprise to PlayStation fans as Sony's first-party developers rarely get to work on more than one project at any given time. Regardless, Santa Monica is keeping their lips sealed when it comes to their upcoming titles, however, it’s good news for fans that a new title from Sony Santa Monica might grace Playstation 5.
Sony is definitely out to produce more games as they are currently ramping up many unannounced first-party games. As everyone anticipates what Sony Santa Monica is up to, they are all looking forward to what the studio can offer for PS5 and beyond. Hopefully, the studio may fill in the gaps in questions in every gamer's mind somewhere down the line.
