Sony's latest first-party PlayStation Studios title, LEGO Horizon Adventures, is struggling to outperform even the disastrous Concord in regards to player numbers.
The situation comes following information from Steam data that shows the game developed by Studio Gobo and Guerilla Games is finding it hard to find an audience. This is despite it having the highly popular LEGO brand on its name.
LEGO Horizon Adventures' Rough Launch
It was found that LEGO Horizon Adventures has an all-time peak concurrent players count of 602, which is a little below Concord's peak of 697 on Steam. This came shortly before the latter was shut down altogether as a live-service title.
Even the relatively underperforming Until Dawn remake managed better numbers than LEGO Horizon Adventures. The former was able to get a peak concurrent players count of 2,607 on Valve's gaming platform.
One thing that is worth noting is that LEGO Horizon Adventures, unlike Concord and the Until Dawn remake, is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC.
This means that the upcoming holiday season could result in an uptick in sales and concurrent players for the title, according to PlayStation Lifestyle.
The situation comes as there are rumors floating around claiming that a Horizon multiplayer game could be one of next year's PlayStation 5 exclusives. A lot of fans are somewhat concerned about its fate following recent Sony releases and how they fared.
One thing that is worth noting about the situation that LEGO Horizon Adventures is in is that the game was primarily designed for a younger audience.
But some people still expected it to do well with the success of its developers and Sony's marketing prowess, Push Square said.
A Low Concurrent Players Count
The game launched earlier this month and received relatively mixed reviews from players and the community as a whole. A lot of people wondered just exactly who the game was designed for.
Some critics also argued that LEGO Horizon Adventures failed to cater to both LEGO and Horizon fans leaving it in an odd limbo space. Only about 58% of Steam reviews are positive about the game.
Many fans are still hoping that all of these could change for the better when the game gets future updates. This comes as LEGO Horizon Adventures had a disastrous weekend with a peak player count of 150.
PlayStation Studios has struggled to compete after bringing games to PC and many of its titles have become commercial failures on Steam. Even the classic Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was not able to enjoy massive success, according to Game Rant.
