The Ability Reroll feature will return in Splatoon 2 ! The function that allowed players to change the abilities of their weapons will make a comeback in the sequel shooting game with some minor changes, along with a brand new feature to make using it easier than ever.
If you played the first Splatoon you may remember Spyke, the sea urchin creature that helped players reroll abilities. In Splatoon 2 a new sea urchin creature named Spikey will assist you in all sorts of business.
According to Siliconera, Spikey specializes in “gear cleaning,” which will remove any additional gear abilities to make a weapon return to its original state. However, in Splatoon 2 abilities aren’t just swept away into the ether, but transformed into gear ability fragments.
Gear ability fragments are collectible, and once a player has enough fragments they can restore an ability into an open slot on a weapon. Players won’t have to reroll countless times to get the ability combinations on their weapons they are looking for.
In the original Splatoon , players had to collect Super Sea Snails from Splatfest events to reroll abilities. But with the new fragment function, players won’t have to wait for these events and can actually customize their weapons much more easily.
Splatoon 2 will release for the Nintendo Switch this summer.
