Splatoon for the Nintendo Wii U has been one of the biggest surprises in recent videogame history. Not only did Nintendo release a brand new IP but it was a critical and financial hit for the company, giving it Wii U console a boost in 2015.
And while Splatoon continues to get regular updates in terms of levels, weapons and events how else can the world of Splatoon be explored? How about a manga?
Weekly Famitsu magazine’s website announced that the story of Splatoon will not only get a manga series but TWO manga series. The website announcement gives few details but here’s what it did say: the magazine will be serializing both Splatoon manga series according to Anime News Networ k with Kino Takahashi launching the Honobono Ika 4-Koma manga, while different manga creators will contribute stories to Play Manga.
It’ll be interesting to see where the Splatoon manga goes. Will it continue the story of the game, give background to the world or just be a series of one-offs. With no release date for the Splatoon manga, fans will just have to wait and see.
This wouldn’t be the first time a Nintendo property has received the manga treatment. In 2015, Fire Emblem received a manga series ahead of its Japanese release.
The last major Splatoon update for the Wii U was in November where new weapons and costumes were made available.
If you don’t own a Wii U, the Splatoon/Smash Bros. bundle was one of the most popular items over the holidays and you should be able to find the bundle around and you really should pick it up.
