Having previously announced an HD re-release of the PS2 classic Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Square Enix has now confirmed a Japanese release date of March 31 for PS4.
Back in February, Square Enix announced plans for the enhanced, HD edition of Till The End Of Time, which will run on the PS4’s PlayStation 2 emulator with overall improved visuals, particularly lighting and edge effects. Square Enix has not yet announced whether the Director’s Cut edition of the game will see an international release.
Siliconera reports the Director’s Cut edition will also feature improved load times, remote play, trophy support and compatibility with PS4’s share function.
An enhanced edition of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time would go a long way to win over fans of the series who were less than impressed with the most recent installment, Integrity and Faithlessness. Meanwhile, the real-time battle mechanics, Item Creation system and storyline of Till the End of Time are regarded by fans and critics as a high point for the franchise.

Till the End of Time is the third game in the Star Ocean series, first released by Enix (before the merge with Square) in 2003. The game debuted in Europe and North America the following year. The game merges the outer-space sci-fi with a more traditional JRPG high-fantasy milieu. The story follows protagonist Fayt Leingod and his childhood friend Sophia, after an attack on their starship finds them stranded on the “underdeveloped planet” Vanguard III, ultimately finding themselves caught up in a conflict in which the fate of the planet -- and the entire universe -- hangs in the balance?
