Star Trek Online is again holding the First Contact Day Celebration. This event is available on both PC and console from April 1 to April 22. For this year’s celebration, different events are open to everyone. Plus, once per day during the event, any activity gives a Daily Progress towards the Grand Prize, which is the Martian Mining Laser.
In Star Trek lore, the Phoenix was the first-ever man-made manned spacecraft that used a warp drive to reach light speed. As a result, the ship was the reason why the Vulcans made first contact with Earth.
The Events
For this year’s celebration, the events are:
- Manufacturing Dissent
- For the first time ever, the Synth Wave is now part of this event.
- The Synths working on Mars are rebelling.
- Players must fight in orbit and work with other Captains to do as much good as they can before they are overrun in the Synth Wave TFO.
- Visit Historical Bozeman!
- The Borg have continued their advance and this time, it's no longer across space but also across time.
- It seems that the Borg has managed to change the timeline to make sure that they now succeed in their plan to prevent the First Contact.
- Players can team up with Seven-of-Nine to learn more about what the Borg actually did to change the timeline.
- Modeling Rocketry
- In this one, players compete with other Captains in a Phoenix Rocket Launch tournament.
The Rewards
Players who participate in the activities once per day get the First Contact Day Badge Box. Opening this box gives players the chance to select between 17 Comm Badges as account-wide unlocks.
As mentioned, there’s also the Daily Progress earnable once per day, per account. This is granted when first completing one of the activities. Once players reach 14 days of Progress, they get to earn the First Contact Day Bundle, which contains:
- 1x Captain Specialization Point (cannot reclaim).
- 25,000 Dilithium Ore (cannot reclaim).
- Launch Toy Rocket Social Device (account unlock).
- Holo-Emitter – Phoenix Shuttle (account unlock).
