Star Trek Online is launching yet another promotion. This one needs players to get a Research and Development Pack or even a Duty Officer Pack, and in return, get an exciting bonus. So what’s the bonus? A chance to earn the rare Tier 6 Ship, Janeway Class Command Science Vessel. This is the same ship that appeared in "Star Trek: Discovery."
This promotion starts Thursday, March 4, and runs through until March 25. As if that’s not enough motivation for players, all packs are being offered at a 20% discount from Match 4 to March 8.
Just to serve as a background to those who haven’t watched Discovery, the Janeway ship was one of the 32nd Century Federation ships and first encountered by the U.S.S. Discovery. Despite being in the 32nd century, the ship continues to have some of the elements of the original version. Indeed, this new version has been upgraded to allow better maneuverability and faster speed. Even with these new features, it continues to have its scientific capabilities.
So, what makes this different from other science ships in the federation? Instead of shield capacity, it puts its power on hull integrity, which means it can also function as a fleet command vessel.
As a command ship, the Janeway class ship can give all Command Ships some Inspiration resource. Once its Inspiration meter becomes full, it can then use one of its three powerful abilities.
