Star Wars Battlefront 2 begins beta testing Oct. 4 and enters open beta Oct. 6. To prepare for launch, EA has released complete details about the demo, including maps, modes and PC system requirements.
According to EA’s official beta page, players will be able to experience the Galactic Assault Theed demo from E3, the Starfighter Assault Fondor demo from Gamescom and a totally new Strike experience on Takodana.
For those who don’t wish to play online, DICE has developed a brand new offline option called Arcade Mode. As detailed in a PlayStation Blog post, the mode essentially offers a replica of the multiplayer suite with AI bots. In the beta, players will be able to fight a standard 10v10 battle or a hero-focused match type on a specialized version of Theed.
When the full game launches in November, the complete Arcade Mode of Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be fairly full-featured. Any unlocks made in multiplayer will be accessible there, and completing Arcade challenges will offer credits for loot boxes that can be opened online. Arcade is also where you’ll be able to team up or battle friends in split-screen play. As one would hope, various options for these matches can be customized, including AI difficulty, available trooper classes and more. Arcade sounds a lot like the bot-focused shooter modes most popular in the PS2 era. It’s a reconfiguration of the mostly ignored Missions from the game's 2015 predecessor.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 ’s beta will be accessible across PS4, Xbox One and PC for pre-order customers on Oct. 4 at 4 a.m. EDT and will be open to all by Oct. 6 at 4 a.m. EDT. As it stands right now there will be no pre-loading options available, so EA has advised that fans be mindful that downloading and installing will take a while.
These details align perfectly with leaks that emerged earlier this month. With that in mind, there are a few more details we can glean. For example, accessible heroes for the beta are likely to include Boba Fett, Captain Phasma, Darth Maul, Han Solo, Kylo Ren, Rey, Luke Skywalker, Yoda and more. Players might also be able to pilot a surprise vehicle too, the Low Altitude Assault Transport. It was not playable in previous demos.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta testing begins Oct. 4 and the full game is available on Nov. 17.
