It's officially a wrap. Luke Skywalker star Mark Hamill shared the following tweet this afternoon to announce the end of Star Wars Episode 8 production.
Amid news of Star Wars Rogue One reshoots, it looks like Star Wars Episode 8 has gone swimmingly. Earlier this month, Hamill interacted with fans on Twitter and revealed that Star Wars Episode 8's final day of shooting will be on Friday, July 22. We were surprised by Hamill's confidence then, but we're even more subscribed that filming has now completed an additional 12 days ahead of schedule.
Right, so should we expect a Star Wars Episode 8 trailer? Absolutely. Why hold out if filming is complete? Episode 8 director Rian Johnson will appear at the Future Filmmakers panel at Star Wars Celebration 2016 in London, which takes place from July 15 to July 17. If we're lucky, a Rogue One teaser would be awesome as well.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on Dec. 16. Star Wars Episode 8 is expected to arrive Dec. 15, 2017. A new standalone Han Solo Star Wars movie is planned for 2018 and Star Wars Episode 9 is slated for 2019. Finally, Disney is shooting for a third Star Wars anthology movie in 2020.
