Reshoots or not, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is slated to arrive in theaters on Dec. 16, which is only a little over five months away! New details and rumors are coming in fast and the latest leak is from Mattel Hot Wheels toys anticipated for Rogue One.
Via Entertainment Earth, Star Wars Hot Wheels Starship 2-Pack contains a new aircraft known as the "Starship Raven." The Raven. Moreover, an orange Snowspeeder, which are also known as an Airspeeder.
The leak from Hot Wheels reveals new toys of old starships and vehicles as well, including the X-Wing fighter, the AT-AT Imperial Walker and the Star Destroyer. However, one that we haven't seen in a while is Admiral Ackbar's very own Mon Calamari Cruiser. A toy for the Mon Calamari suggests that the real deal will likely make an appearance in Rogue One. By extension, this also means that Ackbar is in the movie as well. However, even if we connected the right dots, it's too soon to determine the size of Ackbar's role in the movie.
Admiral Ackbar, the Rebel Alliance leader, and his Mon Calamari Cruiser played a major role in the assault on the second Death Star (It's a trap!). However, the character did not appear in the Star Wars movies until Return of the Jedi, despite the character's long history fighting against the Empire in the expanded universe. This time, Rogue One takes place during the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and will follow a band of Rebels that steal the plans to the original Death Star. Rogue One will be a nice platform for fans to learn more about Acbar and his history with the Rebel Alliance.
Although Admiral Ackbar voice actor Erik Bauersfeld had died in April at the age of 93, reports in February stated both Admiral Ackbar actor Tim Rose and Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew had cancelled an appearance at Pensacon to work on a movie, which was speculated to be Star Wars Episode 8 at the time. However, an Ackbar cameo in Rogue One is certainly plausible as well.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story arrives in theaters Dec. 16. Stay tuned for more Star Wars news in the months ahead!
