Young Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich signed a contract to play in three Star Wars movies, according to a report from the Metro. This suggests that Disney and Lucasfilms has many plans for the 26-year-old.
‘There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential," an insider told the NY Daily News. "Given that Han’s early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters."
“They feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies,” the source continued. “They’re keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies.”
Does this mean there will be a Han Solo anthology trilogy? Your guess is as good as ours, but if Ehrenreich's first movie as the infamous smuggler is a hit, then a trilogy could be a no-brainer.
On the other hand, the appearance on three movies could also mean that Ehrenreich's Han Solo could make cameos in various other Star Wars anthology movies such as the anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on Dec. 16. Star Wars Episode 8 is expected to arrive Dec. 15, 2017. A new standalone Han Solo Star Wars movie is planned for 2018 and Star Wars Episode 9 is slated for 2019. Finally, Disney is shooting for a third Star Wars anthology movie in 2020, which could be another one of the three films to star a young Han.
