Developer Playable Worlds shared a new trailer for upcoming sandbox MMORPG Stars Reach that showcased improved visuals as well as other details.
Prior to the release of the latest footage, fans had a lot of reservations regarding the graphics of Stars Reach when it was first announced. The developer maintained throughout that time that the visuals were not final and were still under heavy work.
Stars Reach Trailer
It seems like that work actually paid off as players got to take a look at the improved graphics for Stars Reach in the new trailer. The footage showcased much more detailed skyboxes, desert terrain, snowscapes, and underground caverns.
Players also caught a glimpse of various other content, such as harvestables and terrain modification as well as jet packs and climbing. Another noteworthy detail seen in the new trailer is that it revealed Stars Reach's supposed professions.
Before the new footage, players only got a chance to know about these professions in the game through a list. There are a total of 27 professions so far that have been confirmed, including Geneticist and Criminal, according to MassivelyOP.
Creator Raph Koster also said that it was updating its Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as of Nov. 7, 2024, that would allow players to share recorded videos, screenshots, and written impressions of the game.
Koster added that while livestreaming still remains restricted until stages of the game, they are encouraging players to make records of their experiences. This is so that they have something to look back to when they can actually tell people of what they were able to do.
An Upcoming Sandbox MMORPG
Playable Worlds made use of AWS and Unity to create Stars Reach and bring it to the public. Koster was accompanied by AWS Principal Solutions Architect Daniel Whitehead during his talk about the upcoming title, MMORPG said.
What they talked about included telling people that Stars Reach is not just a sandbox as they called it a simulated galaxy with hundreds of planets. The game is said to feature a lot of procedurally generated content.
It seems like each of the game's planets is the result of a real-time cellular autonomous simulation. This means that the developers know the humidity and the temperature as well as the adhesion and materials for every single part of that particular world.
In Stars Reach, players will be able to explore and map newly discovered worlds that are located on the far side of wormholes.
The latter is known to be inhabited by extradimensional creatures. Each area will have unknown flora and fauna that you will have to discover, according to Steam.
