A new collaboration DLC for Stellar Blade featuring Nier: Automata characters is coming on Nov. 20, 2024, much to the delight of fans of both games.
The news was announced by Shift Up technical director and CTO DongKi Lee in an online post. He said that Nier had been a major inspiration for Stellar Blade. He added that the collaboration between the two games was marked by mutual respect and creativity.
Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata Collaboration
Lee added that the center of the collaboration DLC is Emil, who is a strange character who hails from the world of Nier: Automata.
Emil's Shop arrives in the world of Stellar Blade to allow players to buy 11 unique items. These will combine the best of both titles for players to enjoy.
On top of the new collaboration-special items, there is also a new patch coming to Stellar Blade.
This will introduce four new costumes as well as a new accessory, the Symbol of Legacy. The accessory changes the appearance and presentation of the Tachy Mode, according to Eurogamer.
Another thing that will be added to Stellar Blade is Eve getting a new haircut. This is a new "no ponytail" cut that gives players more options. There is also a brand-new photo mode that will let the protagonist pose with her friends and colleagues.
The upcoming developments come as Sony and Shift Up are facing legal pressure from a Louisiana-based film production company StellarBlade. The latter alleges trademark infringement after the game's release on the PlayStation 5.
A Ton of New Content and Features
The upcoming Photo Mode looks to have a lot of options and features for players to understand.
It has a lot of filters and poses that include a selfie angle. This particular feature has been under development for quite a while now since the game launched in April 2024, Forbes said.
The update will also feature lip-sync support for six more languages; particularly French, German, Italian, Latin American Spanish, Portuguese, and Spanish. In terms of battle, auto-targeting and ballistics correction features are included in the update.
These will be applied to the enemy insta-kill skills and will make the game's already intense and dynamic fights much more exciting. The developer noted that the collaboration DLC and patch updates were prepared with fans in mind.
They are hoping that the new Nier: Automata-themed items will be well-received by players and that the new Photo Mode gets extensively used. The studio commits to working better to keep up with fans' anticipations, according to the PlayStation Blog.
