In a special promotion for PlayStation owners, new Spotify members will be able to purchase two months of Spotify Premium for $2.
“You can now choose the soundtrack of your game with Spotify on PlayStation™Music. sAs well as background listening on PS4™, you can play all your favourite tunes on-demand. And with the Spotify app on your phone or tablet, it’s easy to skip tracks or turn up the music without pausing your game,” reads Spotify’s blurb on the above video.
This offer is only available to new members, not current ones or those who’ve let their membership lapse. The steps are simple, according to Spotify :
Fire up your PlayStation
Go to PlayStation Music on the content launcher on PS4, or find Spotify in the Music section on PS3
Log in or create a new account
Spotify can be downloaded and used for free, but if ads aren’t to your taste, Spotify already offers a variety of discounts, including a 50% discount for students at $4.99 a month here . Spotify also offers a 30-day Premium free trial and costs $9.99 a month thereafter.
Spotify may not stay exclusive to PlayStation, though Sony marketing director Murray Pannel stated that the length of time is "to be decided… but certainly for the foreseeable." Background music is on its way to Xbox as well in a future update , possibly through the Xbox Music Service, which has been renamed Groove.
