Wonder Woman movie star Chris Pine spilled new details about the film’s World War I set. The actor recently spoke to the Toronto Sun about his character Steve Trevor and his take on the role.

Pine told the Toronto Sun he was excited to find out the film’s time period because it’s not the usual territory films tend to explore. The actor believes the Wonder Woman production has done a great job of making the sets feel authentic to the World War I era. Check out some of the leaked photos below for visuals of the Wonder Woman movie set.

"It’s a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II," Pine told Toronto Sun. "Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here. It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I’ve got people in deep background that have entire lives. It’s awesome, it’s actual make-believe land.”

Pine also offered a description of his Wonder Woman character Steve Trevor. For those unfamiliar with the DC comics, Trevor is Wonder Woman’s co-worker and love interest. The actor said Trevor is a “cynical realist” who’s also worldly and charming. Pine added there are “deep, interesting and morally relevant themes” for Wonder Woman fans to enjoy.

Wonder Woman will hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
