Well, that was pretty quick: Just a few months after announcing it, Nintendo is releasing the last bit of Super Smash Bros. DLC . The last two DLC characters, Corrin of Fire Emblem Fates and Bayonetta of Bayonetta are joining the game on Feb. 3 . A new wave of Mii Fighter costumes are also arriving on Feb. 3. It’s the end of an era, the end of active development for Super Smash Bros on Wii U.
The Last Super Smash Bros DLC Arrives
Super Smash Bros DLC is certainly going out with a bang: Back in the fall, Nintendo announced and introduced Cloud Strife as DLC , a completely and utterly unexpected DLC reveal, and possibly Nintendo’s biggest surprise. Corrin and Bayonetta are both reasonably exciting as well.
Corrin is going to run for $5 on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, or $6 for both systems. Bayonetta costs an extra dollar: $6 on each system, or $7 for both. But the witch, whose game is being re-released in February to coincide with the DLC launch, comes with a little bonus: Her own stage, Umbra Clock Tower. Not bad for an extra dollar.
The release of Corrin, Bayonetta and the last set of Mii Fighters costumes essentially concludes Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros 3DS , which have received more DLC than any other game ever released by Nintendo. By all accounts, the DLC has been a major success, and the latest Super Smash Bros game has more fighters than any previous game in the series. Nintendo has gone all out, and it’s been great. But even great things must come to an end.
We won’t get any more characters in this iteration of Super Smash Bros—although rumors already hint about Super Smash Bros. Nintendo NX —but it’s been a good run, and we’ll be able to enjoy the fruits of Super Smash Bros 4 for a very long time. Will you be picking up Corrin or Bayonetta?
