Funimation’s mobile streaming platform FunimationNow is now live. Funimation’s new mobile-optimized streaming service involves new iOS, Android, Kindle and Windows 10 Universal apps that allow subscribers to watch fan favorites such as Attack on Titan , Dragon Ball Z , Assassination Classroom and more from Funimation’s extensive catalog of anime.
According to the FunimationNow website , the updated mobile features of FunimationNow include:
Episode progress sync across devices
Queue sync across devices
Airplay and Chromecast support
Marathoning / Auto-play next episode
+/- 10 sec skip
Additionally, Airplay and Chromecast features enable you to watch anime on TV via streaming devices such as the Roku. FunimationNow’s site lists Amazon Fire TV , AppleTV and a UK launch as things to look forward to later this year.
In May, FunimationNow promises a “fully responsive website” tailored to mobile phones and tablets. Also in May, Funimation plans to issue console app updates for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Roku.
FunimationNow will have the same tiered pricing familiar to current subscribers. Free accounts are burdened with ads and can only access a limited part of the Funimation archives. For $5 a month, FunimationNow subscribers will enjoy full access to Funimation’s extensive HD library of shows. Fans of subs over dubs get the win here, as it’s only at the $8/month tier that viewers will gain access to dubbed versions of Funimation shows as well as bonus content.
Funimation Now is available on the App Store here and on Kindle here , so head over and let us know how the updated mobile streaming experience works for your favorite anime.
As for Android, don’t worry: in a blog post , Funimation explained that they are still “ awaiting confirmation from the Google Play and Windows stores” before FunimationNow becomes available on those platforms.
Update 4:05 PM: This morning, the Google Play and Windows Store versions of the app became available. Anime achieved!
