StarCraft 2: Nova Covert Ops, the first DLC for StarCraft 2, is releasing its first part on March 29, and Blizzard just unveiled the official cinematic that kicks off the mission pack. You can check it out below. It’s explicitly focused on the story of Nova Covert Ops, and suggests that all is not well in the Terran Dominion. Or at least all is not well for our dear Nova, Ghost extraordinaire. Take a look-see:
StarCraft 2 Nova Covert Ops Trailer: Setting The Stage For New Conflict
The trailer opens on Nova, waking up in an austere mechanical chamber and asking where she is. It then cuts to Matt Horner, who informs her rather starkly that she’s wanted for treason. But Nova has always been loyal, she protests. Thus it begins. It seems something has altered Nova’s memory somehow, and as the mission pack begins, she’s going to be on the run from the Dominion.
This is all very interesting, because it seems to conflict with what we had previously heard about the plot for Nova Covert Ops. In the past, Blizzard had said Nova would be working for the Dominion, hunting down rogue and subversive elements who hoped to destroy the somewhat shaky stability in the Dominion. How does that jibe with cleaning out subversion in the Dominion, if Nova is part of it? I certainly don’t know, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough. But it’s evident that Nova has to escape from the Dominion first before she can figure out what’s really going on.
The first three missions of Nova Covert Ops are out on March 29 in the United States, and you can still preorder the whole nine-mission pack for 50% off. What do you think? Cool trailer? Interested?
