Konami’s Silent Hills game starring Norman Reedus might officially be over, at least for The Walking Dead actor.
Reedus confirmed on his official Twitter account the project’s demise. Konami confirmed to Gamespot the company’s "contract period with Reedus has expired," shortly after the actor shared the information on social media.
However, it remains unclear the state of the Silent Hills project. Konami told Gamespot the company “will continue to develop the Silent Hill series.” Polygon reports representatives of the gaming studio have confirmed the project is dead.
Director Guillermo Del Toro also stated on Twitter Konami’s Silent Hills project is "not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.” Del Toro spoke about his collaboration with Konami during the Tokyo Game Show back in 2014. The director was excited to work with Hideo Kojima, according to IGN.
“We talked about concepts and tools at his headquarters in Tokyo,” Del Toro said. “Then he sent his first version of the playable teaser. I saw it loved it. We then… exchanged ideas and the result was the playable teaser you see now… The concepts we’re discussing, the ideas that we’re discussing and the tools that are in play to create Silent Hills are going to render an incredibly intense and an incredibly scary game.”
