New images from The Lego Batman Movie have been released in advance of Wednesday’s anticipated trailer. Will Arnett returns as Batman, or more specifically, a Batman parody on the level of The Tick that somehow secured the real likeness rights. While the images are suitably DC dark, our first look at Lego Batman in his own movie reveals a very happy Batman, reveling in the pageantry and showmanship of his crusade to fight bank robbers with advanced fighter jets.

The most disturbing image shows Batman barefoot in a robe, microwaving a lobster late-night fourthmeal. If Batman gets his midnight snacks as Batman, does that mean The Lego Batman Movie will have no need for poor, neglected, boring Bruce Wayne?

The Lego Batman Movie batplane looks great, no wonder Batman seems to love showing it off so much.

Like in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Lego Batman seems to have a long history memorialized in his lair, showcasing old costumes and gadgets.

If you’re inclined to consume media in any form than you’ve probably heard “Do you bleed? You will,” more times than the national anthem. Ben Affleck’s voice in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is pitched low enough to trip Richter scales. After Man of Steel grimmed up the dude in red underwear, Batman’s going to have to pull out all the growly stops. That makes it the perfect time for the deflating counter-programming of The Lego Movie’s Batman, whose gruff, vain and vulnerable dark knight undercut everything we love, but sometimes take too seriously, about the character.
