Utterly defying Mr. Poopybutthole’s timeline for the release date of Rick and Morty Season 3, co-creator Dan Harmon told Magic City Comic Con audience members that Season 3 would arrive in 2016. Even better, it will have 14 instead of 10 episodes!
By Poopybutthole’s most optimistic timeline — “tune in to Rick and Morty Season 3 in like… a year and a half… or longer” — new episodes wouldn’t be arriving until April of 2017.

But that all changed when Harmon appeared at Magic City Comic Con in Miami at the end of January.
You can hear it straight from Harmon’s mouth at 10:24:
“I think Season 3 is—we’re targeting around the end of this year,” Harmon said, to cheers from the audience. “You guys do realize we’re at the beginning of this year?”
Even better than the advanced release date was Harmon’s announcement that the new season of Rick and Morty would be 14 episodes, longer than both Season 1 and Season 2. “Is there any press here?” Harmon asked. “Nobody blog about this. We’re doing 14 episodes this year.”
While he didn’t share any details about what to expect from the new season—like how Rick might escape galactic prison—writers on the show have posted script title pages and announced the beginning of voice recording. So we can say pretty definitively that Rick and Morty Season 3 will knock your dicks off.
