Disney is rumored to be testing out two or three different edits of a trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, searching for the best tone to sell the first non-episode Star Wars movie.
Jordan Maison of Cinelinx claims to have sources confirming multiple cuts of the Rogue One trailer circulating through the Disney halls of power. Unfortunately, the only actual description provided of the Rogue One teaser trailer footage is “dark,” an overused marketing word meant to assure insecure genre fans that beloved properties are being taken seriously.
Maison shared all he knows about the first Rogue One trailer on Twitter.
May have some #StarWars Rogue One trailer information here...nothing too terribly exciting.

Heard there are 2-3 #StarWars #RogueOne trailers floating around. Sounds like they're figuring out the "tone" they want to show first

Like many others, I've heard some of the footage shown is "dark".

It’s an essentially useless leak, offering up generic information that anyone could guess without the benefit of insider sources at Lucasfilm. But it may also be our first indication that a trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is on the way sooner rather than later.
