With Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow moving on to Star Wars: Episode IX, Jurassic World 2 has begun hunting for a new director. While Trevorrow won’t be back to direct, he co-wrote the Jurassic World 2 script with his long-time writing partner Derek Connolly. Now that the script is in good shape, producer Frank Marshall has begun looking for a director. Deadline is betting on Juan Antonio Bayona, who is both a talented director ( The Orphanage and The Impossible ) and a friend of Marshalls.
'Jurassic World 2' Plot
Not much is known about the plot of Jurassic World 2 , though Trevorrow has said it will expand Jurassic World to the, uh, world. It seems we’ll finally leave behind the Jurassic Park series typical formula of “yet another flimsy excuse to line people up in front of dinosaur mouths.”
Jurassic World 2 already has a sequel as well. Here’s how Colin Trevorrow described the full scope of the series in a podcast interview, inadvertently admitting that Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), would survive into the third Jurassic World movie:
“We know Owen is going to be in it and Claire will be in it and neither will be in the same place that we left them in this movie, Even though Claire is the one who evolves the most over the trilogy, it’s her story that mirrors this changing world, Owen has shit to deal with. The two of them opened Pandora’s Box in Jurassic World and each of them are responsible for different elements of it in different ways, and I think the way that these characters are connected to the circumstances of what’s happening it’s different than the previous films.”
J.A. Bayona is currently wrapping up A Monster Calls . Jurassic World 2 will be out in theaters on June 22, 2018.
