Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley may be cast as Lara Croft in an upcoming reboot of the Tomb Raider movie franchise. This comes from a report by Deadline.

It should be noted that the film is at a very early stage of development, and Ridley is one of several actresses being considered for the role.

A reboot for the movie franchise has been in the works for a couple years, and will probably be more like the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and last year’s Rise of the Tomb Raider as opposed to the other movies in the film franchise.

If that’s the case, Ridley would be a great casting choice. The rebooted Lara Croft is a young British archeology student instead of a leather-clad gun-wielding badass. Ridley has the right look and personality for the role, while still being capable of handling any action sequences thrown her way.

Deadline has confirmed that other actresses are in the running for the part as well. It’s likely we won’t know who will make up the cast of this movie for a while, but it’s exciting to think it could be led by Ridley.

So what do you think? Are you interested in seeing Lara Croft as played by Daisy Ridley? What other actresses do you think would be good for the role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
