“Frozen Fever” is almost here! It’s been well over a year since Frozen came out, and since then it’s become both the most successful animated movie ever made, and the fifth most successful movie of any kind. If you’re reading this, you don’t need me to tell you that Frozen is a sensation. So I suspect you are either super excited to see ‘Frozen Fever,’ the new short that’s out March 13, because you love Frozen, or dreading it, because your kids love Frozen and you know you’re going to have to watch this thing. Hey, I’m with you both, but I’ve got good news: “Frozen Fever” is probably actually going to be really good. Here’s the trailer:

So “Frozen Fever” is right around the corner—Disney is launching the short exclusively as an opener for Cinderella, which is out on March 13. So if you want to see ‘Frozen Fever,’ well, it looks like you’re in for some Cinderella action as well. Such is the price that Disney exacts. They have yet to announce plans for any other kind of release.
Despite being a mere opener, a pre-roll, “Frozen Fever” has a lot of buzz (arguably more than Cinderella). And maybe it should. On the one hand, the plot sounds a little light and prosaic: Elsa and Kristoff want to help Anna celebrate her birthday. That’s not going to draw in us adults. But really, everything else is going for it: Pretty much the entire original team is back. The whole cast is coming back (yep, Olaf too!). There will pretty much by definition be lots of fan service. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, who directed Frozen, are directing “Frozen Fever.” Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who did the songs in Frozen, wrote a new one for “Frozen Fever,” too: It’s called “Making Today A Perfect Day,” and Josh Gad, who voices Olaf, says it’s super catchy.
What more could you or your family ask for? It’s been a long time since we’ve had the opportunity to enjoy truly new, original, creative Frozen stuff. “Frozen Fever” is the first chance we’ve gotten. It’ll be light, a snack, not the full meal that Frozen is. But hey, there’s always room for Frozen 2. In the meantime, let’s get excited for March 13!
