One last trailer for Styx: Shards Of Darkness is out this week, ahead of the game’s March 14 debut on PC and consoles, featuring a mash-up of cinematic footage introducing the events and the factions driving the narrative in Shards of Darkness . We also get a sneak peek at people and places that haven’t appeared in other Styx trailers.
Some will be disappointed by the lack of new footage in the latest Styx trailer from Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide. But it’s not the first launch video we’ve seen eschew gameplay in favor of a cinematic compilation. The latter tends to make it easier for developers to explain character motivations, introduce allied or enemy factions and tease major plot points. They’re also less jarring when shown before YouTube videos, during commercial breaks, etc. And it’s not like there’s been any shortage of Styx: Shards of Darkness footage thus far. Cyanide just published a co-op trailer for Styx last week featuring a few minutes of stealth action from the campaign.
