A new trailer for Styx: Shards of Darkness debuted on Friday, less than two weeks before the game heads to PC and consoles. The short video confirms Cyanide’s next stealth game will support drop-in/drop-out cooperative multiplayer on all platforms. And Shards of Darkness’ latest confirmed feature will have a big impact on how many Styx fans approach his next adventure.
What makes this week’s announcement especially interesting is the fact that the newly-revealed feature isn’t limited to local multiplayer, as is the case with most games that use drop-in/drop-out co-op. There’s no word on whether Styx will include some form of chat client or if the Shards of Darkness community will need to rely on other software (like Discord or Skype) to communicate during missions. At bare minimum, it’s probably safe to assume the game will include some sort of feature that makes it easier for players to pull off simultaneous kills. We’re not sure how else you’d ever coordinate some of the takedowns in this week’s Styx: Shards of Darkness trailer.
To see more of Styx: Shards of Darkness, including the tandem kills you’ll see when playing with friends, take a few minutes to watch the new co-op trailer from Cyanide and Focus Home. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to make use of the game’s co-op features when Styx hits PC and consoles later this month.
Styx: Shards of Darkness is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game debuts March 14.
