Harley Quinn is in deep with The Joker, a lot deeper than you’d think, according to Suicide Squad cast member Margot Robbie.
The actress recently spoke to Vanity Fair about Harley’s relationship with The Joker and her character’s past. Robbie told the magazine Harley’s a good fighter due to her gymnastics training. She also said Harley knows her relationship with The Joker (Jared Leto) isn’t a good one, but doesn’t care.
“She loves causing mayhem and destruction,” Robbie told Vanity Fair . “She’s incredibly devoted to the Joker. They have a dysfunctional relationship, but she loves him anyway. She used to be a gymnast—that’s her skill set when fighting.”
The Joker’s relationship with Harley has always been disturbing and the romance will be no different in Suicide Squad . Viola Davis, who plays Amanda Waller in the movie, told Vanity Fair back in February she even was scared of Leto at one point. Davis described her first rehearsal with Leto, for a scene where he had a henchman walk into the room and drop a dead pig on the table. She also discussed Leto’s disturbing gift to Robbie before their scenes.
“Now I'm terrified as a person thinking 'Is he crazy?' but the second part was 'Oh shit! I got to have my stuff together.' You talk about commitment and then he sends Margot Robbie a black rat. It was still alive in a box. She screamed, and then she kept it,” Davis told Vanity Fair.
