The Supergirl Season 2 episode 9 promo is very confusing. Is Alex asking Winn to suit up as Guardian? Does that mean something happened to James Olsen? Where is the alien spacecraft from? Why is Roulette back? What planet is Supergirl on and why is she bleeding? Why is Superman’s voice narrating? I have no answers to these questions. Watch the trailer:
Some fans theorize the red planet, which is bad news for Kryptonians, could be Warworld and introduce the villain Mongul. Of course, that’s just speculation at this point. Superman’s voice is included throughout the trailer, but it’s too early to tell if Tyler Hoechlin will actually appear in the episode.
Smith said on his YouTube series, Fatman on Batman, “I might get to play with Superman. You know how fucking mind-bending this is for me? I was never gonna direct that Superman movie, but I did write it back in the day. To be able to work on the show where it's like 'Go direct Superman.' Come on, man. I owe Andrew Kreisberg the sloppiest fucking blowjob ever committed to a dick in history.”
The title of the episode, “Supergirl Lives,” is a play on Kevin Smith’s axed film called ‘Superman Lives.” The script was an interpretation of “The Death of Superman” arc of the 1990s. Stay tuned for the “Supergirl Lives” synopsis, which has yet to be released.
