Jay Garrick is rumored to have an overarching presence across all the DC TV shows, and Constantine may finally carve a spot Arrowverse. But the most exciting rumor of them all ahead of San Diego Comic Con is the prospect of Batwoman and Orcale joining Supergirl.
Insiders over at Bleeding Cool speculate Kate Kane’s alter ego, Batwoman, will run into Supergirl in National City as Maggie Sawyer’s ex-girlfriend.
National City Police Detective Maggie Sawyer will become much-needed ally to Supergirl. Floriana Lima ( The Family ) will play Sawyer, an openly gay character who also dated Batwoman in the comics. Previous reports describe her as an “out and proud detective for the newly formed Science Police.”
However, Sawyer may not be Supergirl’s strongest ally. Say hi to Barbara Gordon, who will appear as her second alter-ego, Oracle. Obviously having Batwoman and Batgirl on the same show would just be confusing. According to Bleeding Cool , Barbara Gordon will become good friends with Kara, and their relationship will be similar to Chuck Dixon’s Birds of Prey , but with Batwoman taking on Black Canary’s role.
Furthermore, Bleeding Cool’s sources say The CW was having trouble bringing Batman to the Arrowverse because of Gotham ’s licensing deals. Their response: brining in the two next best Bats. Not to mention that building an all-woman lineup on Supergirl is also pretty awesome. Watching the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, as the President of The United States on Supergirl will be the icing on the cake.
