Superman joining Supergirl may just be the most exciting piece of casting news we’ve heard from The CW in a long time. Greg Berlanti & Co. are bringing in the big guns to set Supergirl up with a much-needed fresh start for its new Monday slot on The CW, and now we know who will be portraying the Man of Steel: Teen Wolf’ s Tyler Hoechlin.
Superman will visit his cousin Kara in National City for the first two episodes of Season 2. We only saw Superman’s shadow in Season 1, but Kara has kept in contact with Clark via instant message and heard tidbits about his whereabouts from Jimmy Olsen, one of Superman’s only trusted confidants. We’ve already met Kal-El as a young boy (played by Daniel DiMaggio) during Kara’s flashbacks on Krypton, but come fall we’ll officially meet the grown man behind the red cape. Hopefully, Tyler Hoechlin’s presence can win over The Flash and Arrow fans early on in Supergirl ’s sophomore season.
Clark is far from the only new Season 2 cast member. Lex Luthor’s sister Lena, veteran journalist “Snapper” Carr, proud detective Maggie Sawyer, a villainous female doctor and a new ambitious Cat Co employee, Nick Farrow, all join the cast in the upcoming season. Read more about those characters here.
If Superman is a part of the highly anticipated 4-episode crossover (with The Flash , Arrow , and Legends of Tomorrow ) that would certainly be a sight to behold. We also have yet to find out what, or who, is in that Kryptonian pod that miraculously landed in National City in the finale episode. How will Kara react when she meets her long-lost cousin?
