The Madame President of the United States in Supergirl’ s unknown Earth and timeline has been alluded to many times, most recently in the season finale when she pardoned J’onn J’onzz and restored his position as head of the DEO. Like Superman, we’ll finally be able to put a face to the name in the early episodes of Supergirl Season 2. None other than Lynda Carter, still praised for her portrayal of Wonder Woman in the iconic 1975 live action TV series of the same name – the only successful portrayal of Diana Prince’s character to date – will serve as the President of the United States.
Entertainment Weekly has learned Carter will first appear in Season 2 episode 3. It’s unclear in what capacity her character will stick around for the remainder of the season. The news is hardly a surprise. In March, Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti voiced they had the perfect role for Carter, and even teased she may be the first to take the mantle as POTUS on a DC TV show. Now that Supergirl is part of the Arrowverse, it’s a safe bet Carter’s presence will be felt on Legends , The Flash, and of course, Arrow.
In other casting news, Superman will be played by Teen Wolf heartthrob Tyler Hoechlin in the first two episodes of Season 2 – so it looks like Clark won’t cross paths with Carter. Lex Luthor’s sister Lena, veteran journalist “Snapper” Carr, proud detective Maggie Sawyer, a villainous female doctor and a new ambitious Cat Co employee, Nick Farrow, are also all set to join the cast in the upcoming season.
