The end of the Dota 2 Singapore Major means that Season 1 has come to a close, which also implies teams are now preparing for Season 2. The pressure is even greater since there are only two seasons left before The International.
In terms of current ranking, the current SG Major champion Invictus Gaming leads the rest of the pack with 1,000 DPC Points. The 500 points were handed out by the Major while the other 500 points were a reward for winning the Upper Division for China.
Upper Division Winners
In second place is Evil Geniuses, which also placed second in the SG Major but had a first-place finish in the Upper Division for North America. In fact, when you look at the top four, each team was the winner of their respective Upper Division.
The South America Upper Division winner beastcoast withdrew from the tournament so they only had 500 DPC Points. Fnatic, on the other hand, won the SEA Upper Division and currently has 425 DPC Points. They only had the points for the Upper Division after being eliminated early in the Major. However, by removing Natthaphon "Masaros" Ouanphakdee from the roster, they incur a penalty.
Surprise Performance
So what about the two “darling” teams of the Singapore Major? Both OB Esports X Neon and Thunder Predator had second-place finishes in their respective Upper Division tournaments. These two teams also finished at the same standings in the Major, effectively giving them 600 points each and entry into the top 10.

Season 2
Assuming that the assigned points remain the same, it’s still pretty much anybody’s ball game. OG, for example, currently has 42.5 DPC Points but if they win the Upper Division and the Season 2 Major, then that’s likely to put them in the top 10.
We’re excited for Season 2 and hope to see more interesting matches. What about you? Which team are you rooting for in Season 2?
