Tekken 7 has a new PC update that was just released via Steam. The official patch notes detail every minor fix, but key adjustments include improved leaderboard features, keyboard support and anti-cheat mechanisms.
Here’s every note worth knowing:
- Fixes an issue where the leaderboard only shows until the 97th rank and players can't jump to their own ranking.
- Fixes an issue where players can't resume the game after minimizing the app's Window.
- Updates the matching version to ensure hackers will not be matched with legit users anymore.
- Fixes Nina's Ivory Cutter, Eddy's rage arts and Miguel's power crash move.
- Fixes an issue where sometimes both controls are assigned to 1P in VERSUS battle.
- Fixes an issue where the keyboard becomes unresponsive after reconnecting USB devices.
- Fixes issues where customized Kazuya's 3D model partially disappears.
So, while it’s not an exceptionally huge patch, it definitely squashes some of the most frustrating bugs in the game. Keyboard issues have become especially troublesome for PC players, so it’s nice to know the development team has offered a quick solution to enhance the platform’s standard method of input.
For once we’re also getting a sneak peek at the game’s anti-cheat mechanism too. While Bandai Namco representatives were initially cagey about how the team would respond to those cheating in online modes, these notes call out the punishment directly. Fairly similar to the system that was eventually adopted within Street Fighter V, it appears repeat deviants will be excluded from traditional matchmaking. As the developer doubles down on that system with today’s patch, however, it likely won’t take long for hackers to discover a workaround. At the very least, an attempt to solve this common player frustration is well worth the effort.
As those following Tekken 7’s PC release closely will know, this update isn’t the first one the game has received since its release earlier this month. In fact, last week, a wave of online adjustments were introduced to alleviate matchmaking issues. For now, the traditional Match List has been removed to encourage players to use the Warm-Up Lobby instead. This change allowed the community’s most skilled players to more easily find a battle partner. A similar patch was released on PS4 and Xbox One days after the title’s initial release.
Considering Namco intends to support this game as a long-term product, today’s patch will be far from the last Tekken 7 update as well. According to a recent tweet from franchise director Katsuhiro Harada, plans are in the works to possibly allow infinite Revenge Matches in ranked lobbies. “We will [have] lots of update[s] and fix[es] soon,” he assured one vocal fan.
Tekken 7 is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The PC version has become exceptionally popular in recent days. It boasted nearly 30 percent more players on Steam than Street Fighter V’s launch last year.
