Bandai Namco published a new Tekken 7: Fated Retribution trailer over the weekend, giving fans around the globe another look at some of the characters and combat we’ll see when Tekken 7 hits PC debuts next year. Now imagine how much more exciting this announcement would be if the video in question actually featured some new information about the game.
The latest trailer for Tekken 7 emerged during the public half of the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, which began on Saturday morning, courtesy of the series’ official YouTube channel. The new clip is just over three minutes long, a little more than half of which is gameplay footage, and splits the time between combat sequences and a breakdown of the long and bitter rivalry between Heihachi Mishima and his son, Kazuya. As we’ve come to expect, the feud will take center stage in Tekken 7 (albeit for the last time) and there’s plenty of bad blood between the two fighters turned businessmen.
While certainly entertaining, we’re disappointed to report there isn’t anything new to learn from Bandai Namco’s latest Tekken 7 trailer. The video provides an all-encompassing preview of the publisher’s unreleased fighting game, from a plot and gameplay perspective, but we’re not sure there are going to be many surprises between now and the Tekken 7 release date since so many names have already been confirmed for the game’s roster.
