Four minutes of new Tokyo 42 gameplay footage hit the web this week, via a new demonstration from the folks at Mode 7, giving fans another look at the various approaches a player can take when attempting to complete a scenario from the Tokyo 42 campaign.
We got our first look at Tokyo 42, the upcoming isometric action game from SMAC and Mode 7, back in September. There wasn’t much information in the game’s announcement trailer, nor in the first Tokyo 42 gameplay published by the companies, but it was more than enough for observers to get the gist. If you missed out, Tokyo 42 draws inspiration from a pair of classic video games: Syndicate and Grand Theft Auto . Players are asked to complete a series of missions, many of which involve killing a large number of enemies, and it’s up to you to figure out whether to take the loud or quiet approach to finish the task at hand.
In this week’s demonstration, we get to see how different play styles can yield drastically different outcomes on some levels. We get to see Tokyo 42’s take on stealth, a surprisingly enticing take on mechanics popularized by games like Metal Gear Solid or Hitman, and then a much more aggressive run that trades caution for a handful of grenades and a minigun.
