Zoids is my favorite franchise ever made. It combines my obsession with modeling with my love for cool robots beating the shit out of each other. In the mid 90s and early 00s I had nearly every model produced, from the truly badass Death Stinger scorpion to whatever they were thinking with the cube guys.
On the Takara Tomy website , a new teaser for a Zoids project popped up, pretty much out of nowhere. Nobody expected new Zoids ; they haven’t made a single model that didn’t have to do with an anniversary since 2007.
I don’t get excited about many projects anymore, but this is something I could really get behind. All my old Zoids have been lost to time, or to my mother’s need to throw away cherished childhood memories. I sometimes dream about the motorized spinosaurus, slowly crawling its way across my table, or the motorcycle wolf I could never get to work right.
Zoids is the one franchise you are not allowed to fuck up, so Tomy better do this right.
